Connecticut Robotics Society Meeting:
The meeting started at 1pm
13 in attendance
Jake - National Robotics Week is April 10-18
Aexeous robot video - demos to school children to motivate them to pursue
careers in engineering
The usual introductions by Jake
What Jake did on Thurs - interview on Better Connecticut about the
Connecticut Science Center's robotics program. May 29th - date when travelling
robotics exhibit comes to the CSC
Jim talked about the RoboWorld exhibit at the Carnegie Science center
Gabe got up and talked about what he has been up to – he would like to
network with people who could set himself up in a summer internship program. He

Eddie showed the group his Beam Robots
- very cool.
Next we had our Ping-pong ball contest.
Contestant #1 - NXT robot
that was able to seek a target and shoot a ping-pong ball at it.
Contestant #2 - RCX robot
that batted a ping-pong ball around.
Contestant #1 won today's
prize.
Next Jake showed a couple of videos of kids building and running robots at
a Saturday morning program at the Science Center. He had 3 groups of 30
students.
OpenCV demo - motion detection tracking. Very interesting.
Jake showed the group his new and improved brain wave scanner from Emotiv
Systems (www.emotiv.com). Joe was good enough to be a
"subject" for our experiment.
