Welcome to the Connecticut Robotics Society!

Attention: The June meeting is cancelled due to a traffic clogging event that is going to be held this Sunday at the place where we hold the meetings. Our next meeting will be held in September. Watch for an e-mail with details.

"CRS" is an informal group of hobbyists, experimenters, and robot builders who meet monthly at GHAMAS (a.k.a. The Learning Corridor) in Hartford, Connecticut. We welcome everyone, no matter where they are from. The CRS is absolutely NOT limited to people from Connecticut. Our membership is a diverse group composed of people with many different backgrounds and experience levels. Our interests include, but are not limited to, electronics, mechanics, fun, and the science related to automation and homebuilt robotics.

The Connecticut Robotics Society is modifying its meetings to better address the wishes and needs of the members to make the meetings more "hands-on" and to help people grow in their skills and abilities. The meetings will now start at 11AM and have a 3 hour session where members can work on their own project that they brought with them. GHAMAS equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, soldering irons, etc. will be available, if they need them. There will also be other CRS members there to help out with advice and sympathy. People can also work on various other projects involving equipment already at GHAMAS such as speech synthesizers, LCD displays and stepper motors. At 2PM, we will stop working on projects and begin the more traditional part of our meeting which will include members explaining what they accomplished during the work session and what problems they are still having. We will still have the "equipment give-aways" and the chance for everyone to share their thoughts. See the Agenda page under Meetings for more details.

Note to Parents: The goal of the project work session is to enable people to work on their own projects. While the CRS is still a completely open organization with no membership restrictions as to age or ability, if your child is not capable of independent, unsupervised work then it might be best for them to come from 2PM to 4PM to see what others have done and what they will be able to do once they have achieved the necessary knowledge and skills.

The CRS meets from September through June on the second Sunday of the month at 11AM. The next scheduled meeting is September 14, 2008...for driving directions, click here . A complete schedule of meetings for the year can be found on the Meetings page. Anyone is encouraged to attend and don't forget to bring your favorite new toy or your latest project!
